The Hell Below Us

“Imagine there’s no hell below us”
that waits for those that kill
for the sake of heaven.
Imagine there is no heaven above
that waits for those, who,
because of others, are living in hell.
Imagine there are no countries
that usurp or manipulate others
for them to live in paradise.
Imagine there is no possession
that turns need into want,
and want into madness.
Imagine there is no faith
that builds walls instead of bridges.
Poetry is bad or not certain
in knowing where devils actually lived.
Poets oftentimes are hopeless dreamers of hope.
But if one is actually a living dead in hell,
Why imagine or dream
that there is no heaven?
